The winners of the Buma Golden Harps for 2008 – Jan Smit, Krezip, Gerard van Maasakkers and Within Temptation – received their pins from Marco Borsato, Ilse DeLange, Guus Meeuwis and Jerney Kaagman respectively. The winners of the Buma Silver Harps for 2008 – Room Eleven, Ziggi and Typhoon – had their awards pinned on by Youp van 't Hek, Alain Clark and Sticks (rapper with Opgezwolle).

Buma Export Award 2008

The Buma Export Award for 2008 was presented to André Rieu by Ivo Niehe and the special 2008 Export Award went to Giorgio Tuinfort, presented by Tony Berk. Tuinfort was given the award because of the many years over which his works have been made public by foreign performers.

Live broadcast

The Buma Harpen Gala programme was broadcast live by TROS on Nederland 3. The artists who performed were accompanied live by the Metropole Orkest, conducted by Jules Buckley.

Jury

The Buma Golden and Silver Harps are awarded by a jury of experts. The jury for the Buma Golden Harps this year consisted of Frits Spits (chairman), Cor Bakker, Lisa Boray, Daniël Dekker, John Ewbank, Koen Poolman and Hijlco Span. This year, the jury for the Buma Silver Harps comprised Sieb Kroeske (chairman), Giel Beelen, Edwin Evers, Tjeerd Oosterhuis, Saul van Stapele, Simone de Waard and Nathalie van Veenendaal.
