How to declare copyright?
Copyright provides automatic protection for your work. Nevertheless, it is wise to register your creations at the tax office or with a notary public. What you sign with Buma/Stemra is a commercial exploitation agreement.
When are you entitled to remuneration?
If your music is performed, heard in public, or recorded on CD or DVD, then you are entitled to remuneration. The amount depends on the situation.
What does music copyright earn?
Buma/Stemra calculates how much you will receive when other people use your music either by using a system of “distribution points” and “distribution seconds”, or a sum for each image carrier or sound carrier. You will also receive remunerations from abroad through Buma/Stemra.
